Where are you originally from?
I was born and raised in Reno, Nevada.

Why did you want to become a civil engineer?
Originally, my goal was to become an architect but my dad, who is also a civil engineer, suggested that I get a bachelor's degree in civil engineering first and then get my master’s in architecture later. Well, that didn’t go as planned because along the way, I found my love for soil and decided to become a geotechnical engineer. As a geotechnical engineer, I really enjoy the balance of working in an office and working in the field and I love that the projects I work on have a lasting impact on the community.

How did you find out about ASCE? How has it affected your career?
I first became involved in ASCE in 2022 when I joined the ASCE Cup Committee. I have been a part of the committee for 4 years now and am currently serving as its President. By being a part of ASCE and participating in all the various fun events we always do, I have made so many new friends and connections.

Get Involved

As a young civil engineer, being apart of a professional organization helps you grow professionally and personally. When you join the Young Members Forum, you are setting a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling career in civil engineering.
